a letter to AC ‘20

I am filled with gratitude to be writing this blog with as many mixed emotions as I have; overjoyed and proud to see our seniors succeed, yet devastated to see them go. However, through my role as Director of Alumnae Engagement, I can say with complete confidence that this sisterhood IS forever, and that only makes me more excited to watch them thrive.

AC ‘20 is an absolute JOY in every capacity. I had the greatest semester planning their Senior Week, getting to know each of them well. Senior Week was such a blessing to coordinate, but having the opportunity to love on our seniors was by far the best part. Each day brought a new way to celebrate, providing seniors a new “fan” of theirs by the day. On Sunday of Senior Week, a professional photographer took pictures of AC ‘20 around our beautiful campus. I wanted to provide seniors with the opportunity to have one last AC picture, and pictures with their sisters that they could cherish forever! Monday brought our Senior Sendoff Dinner and Yellow Rose Ceremony. For some of AC ‘23, this was the first time they had heard directly from some of AC ‘20, so it was extra special to hear the advice from so many seniors about soaking in every moment of the sisterhood they just joined. Tuesday was Jewel Degree! We had some surprise visitors that made this ceremony extra special! Wednesday we had a lovely sisterhood event, Pi Love in Full Bloom! Friday, however, was my favorite day of all: Senior Preference Ceremony. As we all know, Preference Ceremony is such an integral part of our ADPi recruitment experience and something we will remember forever. Sadly, COVID robbed our seniors of ever participating in this special ceremony - so it was my mission to ensure this was part of their Senior Week experience.

During Senior Preference Ceremony, it became all too real that I was saying “goodbye” to some of the most special girls I will ever know. My heart was filled with such joy that I knew the senior class well enough to give each of them a unique adjective that described them. If I were to describe AC ‘20 in one word, however, it would be “greatness.” The greatness that radiates from each of them is loving, empowering, and invigorating. The successes that this class had in only 4 short years is simply immeasurable. The futures that these women have are overwhelmingly bright. Lawyers, educators, accountants, doctors, PAs, nurses, engineers, to name a few - I am positive you will make our world a better place.

AC ‘20 will change the world someday. How lucky am I that I adore each of them!

Pi Love & All of Mine,

Lauren Worley, AC ‘22
